Macedog Golf Tournament

I had the fortune of knowing Macy “Macedog” Meyer for one year. In that short time period he helped inspire me to become a teacher/coach.  It seems like a lot of time has passed since he left us, but one thing that will never be erased in my mind was his character, wisdom, and humor.  He taught the “adults” the important things in life.

Since the death of Macy in a car crash in 2003, The Meyer family, Tim Ottmann, Carl Ellis, and the Schenbecks have been instrumental in keeping his memory alive through raising funds and organizing the Macedog Golf Tournament.  It is now time for the current Wrestling team to step up and raise funds so that Macy can continue to ride with us as we travel to various events.  The Macedog bus symbolizes Ponderosa Wrestling.

This year’s tournament will be held at Black Bear Golf course on Monday, August 2nd. We could use your help in securing hole sponsors, and getting golfers.  Please start to talk to any and all golfers you know.  Also, if you know of a hole sponsor that would like to contribute, donations range from $250 to $5,000.

Congrats Coach Estrada!

Coach Estrada represented Ponderosa Wrestling well as he won his Mixed Martial Arts fight last night in a convincing Technical Knockout.  Jeff is a stud and not only talks the talk with our athletes, but he walks the walk.  Coach competes in MMA and he still actively participates in Open Wrestling tournaments as he hopes to achieve unfinished goals from his early career.

Understandably some people may be turned off by the violence involved in MMA, but a Wrestler looking to compete after College basically has two options:  He can set his sights on Olympic Dreams or use his Wrestling skills in the fastest growing professional sport in the World.  Jeff is just a few wins away from making a sustainable income in MMA!

Coach Estrada Fighting this Weekend

Coach Estrada looks to improve his MMA record to 3-0 when he fights this Saturday night (4/17) at the Live Stock Event Center.  What makes this event even more interesting is Coach Estrada is fighting a former Chaparral State Champion Wrestler.  No that is not a typo, an actual homegrown State Champion from Chap!  Unfortunately that night is prom, but lets get as many people as we can to go support Jeff.

Congratulations to Derek Good, who received a Wrestling Scholarship to compete at Mesa State.  Some of these wrestlers will probably redshirt, but it will be fun watching these Mustangs compete at the next level in 2011:
